What’s a full-throttle Brit Brit comeback without her arch nemesis Christina Aguilera on the scene? Boring, of course. Especially if you grew up on TRL in the early 00s and thought the real-life, er, media concocted  rivalry between the two was as epic as that of the intense battle between Robert E. Lee and Ulysess S. Grant. (History majors stand-up!) To be fair, though, this isn’t a true comeback by Xtina. But it’s cool nonetheless that both are back and gearing up to drop new music this holiday season.

Here is the first video off of Christina’s upcoming album greatest hit album, Keeps Gettin’ Better — A Decade of Hits. The name of the tune that the pop singer croons on? Keeps Gettin’ Better! Original, for sure.

Annie Leibovitz, Conde Nast’s resident trouble-maker, has her sites set on creating yet another photgraphic controversy this year. You know, for old times’ sake.

Her partner-in-crime: Tina Fey! SNL’s star Sarah Palin impersonator.

Of the 30 Rock star, Leibovitz tells Vogue UK, “She’s our modern Lucille Ball. I think it’s amazing how she crossed over – comedy took hold and gave us a comic relief from the election. Because it was dragging on, and dragging on, and dragging on.”

FYI: the legendary photographer has a reason to be smitten with the comedian, Leibovitz just shot Fey for the cover of Vanity Fair.

Hopefully, Fey won’t be wrapped in any type of silk sheet…

I’ve never really been too geeked about power moguls Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen.

I think it has something to do with the fact that they both always come across as smug and incredibly jaded when they rarely interact with any type of media outlet (hello, Oprah!), and yet, the wealth that allows them to carry on in this way was founded on things like bedding sets with their faces on them and horrible holiday movies.

Well, this week they’ve attempted to act as if they’re down with their fans to promote their new book, Influence, but unfortunately, this was too much slumming it for them. They had someone type up a list of nine rules that fans had to obey in order to meet the twins.

1) Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen will be with us for a limited time. They will only be signing copies of their book, Influence. They will not be speaking, reading or taking questions.

2) Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen will NOT sign any memorabilia or product other than Influence. There is a limit of one book per person, and your one book must be purchased here.

3) You will be directed to pay for your book upon entering the store and will be given a receipt for your purchase. Please keep your receipt. You will receive your book at the signing table.

4) Along with your receipt, you will be given a B&N wristband, and then directed to the event space on the 4th floor. You must have a receipt and a wristband to access the 4th floor.

5) Anyone approaching the signing table must have paid for the book and be wearing a B&N wristband. One person, one wristband, one book.

6) You will collect your signed book at the signing table. If you have paid for any additional copies, a staff member will provide you with those before you exit the space.

7) There is no photography allowed. You must put away your camera or cell phone before approaching the signing table. The authors will not pose for photos.

If you leave, or the authors leave, before you are able to collect a signed book, you may present your receipt to a cashier for either an unsigned book or a refund. (Refunds only issued within 14 days of receipt.)

9) There will be no extra signed copies available after the authors leave the store. They will not be able to sign for anyone who is not on line. No pre-orders.

Oh, snap! Someone is looking to throw money at a few PYT looking to work in the fashion industry.

That’s right, folks. The Daily is actually hiring people as all of the banks in New York crumble around them. Crazy, I know.

No word on what they’re looking for exactly but an unhealthy love for Ralph Lauren model Lonneke and a peculiar infatuation with glossy party images couldn’t hurt you case. Oh, yeah! An interesting cover letter and resume is always a plus.

So. Magazines are shutting down and leaving hundreds of employees jobless left and right. CosmoGirl, Radar, and Harvard’s erudite publication have all called it quits. The economy is not kidding around and the budgets that are required to keep magazines like the aforementioned is too much to bare.

But is this stopping publishing giants from expanding their empires? Uh, no!

Hearst — the empire who just devastated preteens across America with the cancellation of CosmoGirl — plans on expanding in the international market. Starting in January, their will be Bulgarian, Ukraine, India, Serbia, and Croatia editions of Harper’s Bazaar.

There was Will.I.Am and his elitist friends crooning about voting and loving Socialist Obama in a nice little diddy. Then the Black-Eyed-Pea front man had to out do himself and made another Obama montage, but this  one wasn’t as catchy or inspiring. But that was all in the past. Because the undisputed number one voting PSA this election cycle was created by a group of kids who didn’t have the luxury of sleek video editing. These kids urge people to vote next week by singing and dancing along to T.I.’s hit, Whatever You Like. Brilliant.

Surprise! CosmoGirl staff members won’t be the only publishing types looking for odd jobs on Craigslist and eating Ramen noodles this holiday season.

Elle Accessories, the super glossy — and more importantly — bland cousin to the more elitist Elle, is officially kaput. Well, not entirely. Supposedly, some higher-up at Hachette Filippachi will wave their erudite wand over the straggling  publication  just in time to resurrect it for a  Fall ‘09 delivery to news stands.

Anne Slowey, the irreverent blonde edtrix on that bitchy little show called Stylista, was the editor-in-chief of Elle Accessories. But suffice it to say the wannabe ice queen isn’t trippin’ much, considering she has that enviable contract with the CW.

As far as the small team of earnest and low paid editors working for the Elle spin-off, uh, they don’t have it so easy: Linnea Olson-Scwartz, fashion market director; Anna Kojuharova, senior market editor; Betsy Breen, assistant market editor; and Jaclyn Kaminski, fashion assistant have all been fired.

No worries, though. Queen Anne has set-up a Gmail account so any fashion editor, assistant, photographer, creative director, stylist can contact her for inquiries to work the aforementioned unemployed.
