Eniko Mihalik fades to black
Fact: Eniko Mihalik is not black. In fact, she kind of looks like a baby Daria Werbowy.
Fact: There are, however, quite a few pristine black and brown models who could have sat for this I&V lensed Self Service photo shoot.
Fact: Black face aside, there is something just not quite right with this image. Maybe it’s the cigarette or the fact that has been given the untimely task of smiling.
Either way, this “pushing boundaries” message may have made more head way if they people of this directional magazine actually used a model a color and decorated her body with paint. You know, actually pushing boundaries.
What do you think?
Is Maison Martin Margiela going to retire?
So. Maison Martin Margiela doesn’t really work or have any input on most of his avant-garde collections that seem to always make the editors and stylists swoon every season, and as a result, could have possibly presented his last collection yesterday before a newbie comes in to become the legend’s official replacement.
No word on who that particular PYT could be, but shouldn’t Paris’ new boy-wonder, Gareth Pugh, rank pretty high on that list replacement list?
Anyways, all of the models faces were covered with some type of stocking at the show, and yet none of the managed to fall. So, now you should have a better grasp on how high those heels were at Prada that made so many girls wobble without any eye coverings.
Meanwhile, WWD would like you to know our economy is f****** up:
“Retail stocks went into a steep dive Monday even before the House of Representatives voted down the revised fiscal bailout plan, 228 to 205.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell more than 700 points at one point prior to the completion of the vote but rebounded slightly afterward. After lawmakers rejected the plan, the Dow sat at 10,597.62, down 545.51, or 4.9 percent, as the final 70 minutes of the trading day approached, while the Standard & Poor’s Retail Index was at 353.57, down 22.10, or 5.9 percent, at 2:30 p.m.”
Happy Tuesday, everyone.
Usher wants to outfit ladies with panties
Not only does Usher think he knows how a man and women should smell, but he also fancies himself an expert on what undergarments they should wear under his semi-sexy scents.
WWD reports the R&B singer will be launching a line of intimates for both sexes. Apparently, a sneak of the barely there pieces can be seen in his upcoming music video “Trading Places.”
Expect the panties and boxers to land at a Macy’s near you in the coming months.
Amy Adams: The lady is vamp
As much as I’m tired of seeing non-descript white European models on the cover of popular international style mags, I’m just as annoyed seeing otherwise boring and random actresses cover popular publications stateside.
But, I’ve never been one to not give credit when it’s due, and Amy Adams looks super lush on the cover of Vanity Fair’s November issue. The Veronica Lake hairstyle and vampy attire makes the actress look like a distant cousin of Karen Elson.
The term “directional Hollywood” still makes cringe, but if it always looked this good, well, I might have to change my opinion.
Brandy:”I breathe for you”
Recently, Brandy dropped the video for her new single, Departed, off her fifthe studio album Human.
As if anyone could forget, the singer was involved in was involved in a terrible clash back in January ‘07, which left the driver in the other vehicle dead. Lawsuits and the threat of going to jail hung over Brandy’s head up until recently when all charges were dropped against her.
This song is pretty much an ode to what her life has been like the past couple of years, and as you can imagine, it’s a tad bit on the sad side: and when your tears are dry from crying/and when the worlds turned silent/so when the clouds above Departed/you will be right here with me.
