It’s Halloween B*****

Sawney Beane, his wife, eight sons, six daughters, and thirty-two grandchildren were a family of cannibals who lived in the caves near Galloway, Scotland, in the early seventeenth century. Although the total number is not known, it is believed they claimed more than fifty victims per year. The entire family was taken by an army detachment to Edinburgh and executed, apparently without trial.

5 Questions With Dina Selkoe

Yes, 5 + 1 =6, but we just had to know a little bit more about owner/buyer Dina Selkoe of Karmaloop.

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself?

Let’s see….. I was born in Russia (so I’m probably genetically inclined to be crazy). I have 4 pets- two cats and two dogs (Jasper, Flippy, Vivian and Mr. Serge). I like politics (double nay to Baby Bush Duvalier! Yay to Obama!), international affairs and history, tennis and traveling, collecting books and bags, and consuming wine and music (who doesn’t like the last two?), and I am about to start taking Krav Maga classes (so watch out boys of Karmaloop, you’re about to get your asses served).

2. How did you become a buyer?

I came into the company in a more general, managerial/creative type position- doing editorial stuff and the Lookbook, planning parties, opening the store in Boston, doing some legal stuff, etc., we had a buyer who did both men’s and women’s and it just made sense to separate the two, so I started doing the women’s buying about a year ago.

Open-Toed Shoes for Fall?

Could these shoes be any more fierce?

I’ve been stalking both pairs all season, and while I have yet to spot anyone wearing the turquoise pumps by Fendi, everybody and their mother seems to have nabbed a pair of these sick studded sandals by Burberry.

Which leads me to this:

It’s almost November, and yet the “open-toed shoe w/tights” trend is still going strong. I think the look is really cute, but totally unpractical unless you’re showing them off in a editorial in Vogue magazine.

Her website is complete eye candy. It features the most amazing lizard, ostrich, python, and crocodile skins in practically every color under the sun. Well, the fierce colors that is! My favorite pieces are the river tote and all of the clutches. I love the geometric hardware on the river tote and the sleek modernity of the clutches.
